It has been 105 days since Joe Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki promised that his medical records would be released “soon.” It seems that her definition of “soon” may be different from mine. Moreover, she announced that Biden would undergo a complete physical examination by his White House Physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor by the end of the year.
The chief executive underwent his last recorded complete medical exam by the same Dr. O’Connor in December, 2019, 19 months ago. Readers of this site are well aware of the author’s skepticism over Biden’s health and the infrequency of his medical examinations. So I decided to check the medical histories of six of Biden’s predecessors. Overall, Biden did not come out unfavorably.
Recent presidents have been somewhat elusive during their presidential campaigns regarding their health. Typically, their private physicians would issue a letter with relatively concise information at some time during the campaign. Both Barack Obama and Donald Trump did so. As did Hillary Clinton in 2016. However, it has been difficult for this author to elicit the information about others.
A new president’s initial complete physical exam is conducted within their first year in office. George H W Bush and son George W Bush were examined even earlier (May 10//August 4).
So, perhaps I should be more patient with Joe Biden and Kevin O’Connor.
